On Monday, April 1, the MI and Rajasthan Royals (RR) will play their first home game of the season at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Mumbai was invited to bat first by RR captain Sanju Samson after he won the toss. But the hosts’ innings didn’t start off well as new-ball specialist Trent Boult took the valuable wicket of Rohit Sharma for a golden duck in the very first over of the game.
With a delivery of good length, Boult shape away from the MI opener and sent his edge straight to Sanju Samson, the wicketkeeper. The stadium went silent as the former Mumbai captain made the arduous trek back to the pavilion after being dismiss. Even though everyone had come to watch him bat.

Boult added to the hosts’ anguish when he trapped Naman Dhir in front of the stumps with an inswinger on the next delivery, leaving MI reeling at 1/2 at the end of the first over.
The Kiwi seamer returned in his next over to claim another significant scalp in the form of Dewald Brevis (0 off 1), leaving MI in deep danger at 14/3 after 2.2 overs. Boult finished with figures of 3/14 in three overs, thanks to his stunning opening performance. At the other end, Nandre Burger joined the celebration by dismissing Ishan Kishan (16 off 14) in the fourth over, leaving MI on 20/4.
