IPL2021: Sheldon Cottrell pulled off a shocking heist with a six off the final ball of the match over Ashley Nurse to assist St Kitts and Nevis Patriots vanquish Barbados Royals and stay undefeated in this season’s CPL.
Requiring four runs to win off the ultimate conveyance, Cottrell launched Nurse over long-off to wrap up with 20 not out from seven balls and start wild celebrations from his teammates. Cottrell claimed Player of the Match honours but he might not have done it without Dominic Drakes’ commitment, having smashed 28 from 15 to grant Patriots a chance.
Royals grabbed vanquish from the jaws of triumph. Patriots were 98 for 5 chasings 161. After brilliant spells from 20-year-old Nyeem Young and uncapped Englishman, Jake Lintott had all but frosted the diversion. Young stowed 3 for 26 whereas Lintott picked up 2 for 28 from four overs, counting the key wickets of Chris Gayle and Sherfane Rutherford.
Jason Holder
Drakes and Cottrell kept the amusement lively with a few sublime striking. Patriots required 28 from 12 balls when Cottrell took hold of Jason Holder. He and Drakes took 18 from the over as Royals’ captain missed his lines and lengths and he was blessed not to be called for a no-ball for a full toss over waist height.

However, Holder then gambled with Nurse for the final over with just 10 runs needed to win, despite Raymon Reifer and Oshane Thomas both having one over cleared out. Drakes nearly holed out but Holder couldn’t get to the capture at long on and it went through him for four. Drakes was at that point bowled with five required off three balls attempting to hit the winning runs. Naseem Shah seem have taken two off the penultimate ball but Cottrell turned down the moment run putting the game on his shoulders. And he carried his side home with one of the leading strikers of his career.
