BCB President Nazmul Hasan set to resign

BCB President Nazmul Hasan set to resign. The statement comes shortly after Hasan became Minister of Youth and Sports on January 11, following his election to parliament on January 7.

In a recent development, the president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), Nazmul Hasan, is preparing to resign. The announcement comes just a few days after Hasan was appointed Minister of Youth and Sports on January 11, following his election to parliament on January 7. Concerns were raised about Hasan’s ability to balance both roles – serving as the head of BCB since 2012 and now taking on a governmental role. In response to the rumors, Hasan stated.

“There are no legal issues with me holding both positions (BCB president and Minister of Youth and Sports),” there is no relationship between getting ministry and leaving the post of BCB because several ministers previously fulfilled both roles. According to Cricbuzz, it is also present abroad, so that is not an issue. Despite the legal exemption, Hasan expressed his desire to avoid any conflict of interest, saying, “but it would be good if that is not the case (holding both posts) because then there might be speculations of me prioritizing cricket.” As Minister of Sports, I want to prioritize everything.”

Hasan clarified that he is committed to completing his current tenure as BCB president

Citing the importance of stability for the country’s cricket. Exploring options, he mentioned the possibility of discussing the matter with the International Cricket Council (ICC) after their term concludes.

“Basically there are quite a few factors here. First thing is that even if I wish for it, I can’t leave now. We have seen this in the case of Zimbabwe where they were suspend for almost two years and also in the case of Sri Lanka. I feel that there can’t be a rush to take a decision which may harm the country’s cricket. One option is to talk to the ICC because there are two things which are very important. One is our term, which ICC always wants that an elect body finish their full term and the other is ICC’s current board’s own term. ” He said.

“The chairman is Greg Barclay, and his term may end at the end of this year. ” At the moment, various people are in charge of various committees. I am also a member of several committees. I am also the chairman of one committee, and changes in these positions are not tolerate. So, if I suddenly leave, who will chair that committee? So I need to speak with the ICC. “I believe that as soon as the ICC’s term ends, I will be able to talk to them and get out of it smoothly. ” He added.

With the next BCB elections scheduled for October 2025, if Hasan steps down immediately, an interim president will be appointed from among the current board members to oversee cricketing affairs.
