Former Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has filed a lawsuit against Mihir Diwakar and Soumya Vishwash of Aarka Sports and Management Limited. The complaint, filed in a Ranchi court, hinges around a 2017 agreement between Dhoni and Diwakar to establish a global cricket academy. Aarka Sports allegedly failed to meet the agreement’s set criteria, which included the payment of franchise fees and profit sharing.
Despite Dhoni’s persistent attempts to resolve the issue and many legal notices, the provisions of the agreement remained unfulfilled. As a result, he canceled Aarka Sports’ authority letter on August 15th, 2021. The World Cup-winning captain, represented by Dayanand Singh of Vidhi Associates, alleged a loss of over Rs 15 crore due to deception and non-compliance by Aarka Sports. Simant Lohani, a close friend of his, has also filed a complaint alleging threats and verbal abuse. Mihir Diwakar in the aftermath of their legal action against Aarka Sports.
This legal squabble coincides with the wicketkeeper batter’s personal difficulties. As the cricket legend underwent knee surgery in June 2023, which was successfully completed at Mumbai’s Kokilaben Hospital. His rehabilitation piqued the public’s interest.
