Why isn’t Kohli the Test team captain: Badrinath. India lost the Boxing Day Test to South Africa by an innings and 32 runs.
Former India international Subramaniam Badrinath questioned Rohit Sharma’s leadership abilities following India’s defeat to South Africa in the Boxing Day Test in Centurion. Notably, both the batting and bowling groups underperformed, resulting in a humiliating innings and 32-run defeat.
Following that, Badrinath suggested that Virat Kohli captain the side in red-ball cricket. He emphasized Rohit’s lack of experience outside of India and questioned his place in the starting XI.
“With over 5000 runs, 40 wins, and 17 losses in 68 Tests, Kohli is an exceptional Test captain.” He guided the team to a stunning victory in the Australia series and has the fourth-most Test victories as captain.

Why isn’t Virat Kohli leading the Test team?
He bats better in Tests than Rohit. Why is an inferior player taking the lead instead of him? Although Rohit Sharma has been in and out of the team, he is a significant player who has scored runs everywhere. However, he has yet to establish himself as an opener outside of India. So, what brings him here?” According to Badrinath’s YouTube page.
Meanwhile, the Indian captain was dissatisfied with the pacers’ performance. Following the game, the 36-year-old stated that no other paceman supported Jasprit Bumrah in the middle and that the team should not have leaked so many runs. He also stated that Prasidh Krishna is new to this format and that he expects him to improve.
Avesh Khan appears to be the favorite to replace Prasidh in the starting XI. Following a superb five-for against South Africa A, the BCCI named him as Mohammed Shami’s substitute in the squad.
When it comes to batting, Rohit needs to improve and set a good example. The opener scored only five runs, and as a result, Badrinath believes Rohit does not deserve a berth in the starting XI. Kohli, on the other hand, was the lone fighter in the second innings, hitting 76 runs before succumbing to Marco Jansen.
