Sachin Tendulkar has joined the KL Rahul admiration club following his courageous ton in Centurion. On Wednesday, December 27, KL Rahul struck one of the finest hundreds on South African soil in the second Test between India and South Africa.
KL Rahul has received praise from the cricketing community following his gutsy century on Day 2 of the Boxing Day Test between India and South Africa. The legendary Sachin Tendulkar, who scored five hundreds on South African soil, praised the Karnataka batter on social media.
On Day 1 at the Super Sport Park in Centurion, Rahul walked in to bat with India behind at 92/4. This came after Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer put on a crucial 68-run stand. As India fell to 121/6, Rahul saw wickets fall at the other end. However, the 31-year-old appeared unconcerned. He fought hard in difficult conditions and finished Day 1 with a score of 70. He went on to score his seventh overseas Test century and eighth overall on Day 2. The tourists were eventually bowled out for 245, a total that would have been significantly lower had the right-handed batting not hit 101 from 137 balls.
“Well done, @klrahul. What struck me the most was his clarity of thought. His footwork appear crisp and assure, as it does when a hitter is thinking clearly. In the context of this Test, this century is critical. “Considering where they were at one point yesterday, India would be happy with 245. ” Tendulkar said on his official ‘X’ (previously known as Twitter) profile.
