The auction for the 2018 Indian Premier League (IPL) season created quite a stir, with franchises breaking the bank for a number of great players. With the likes of Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc breaching the 20 crore mark, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s acquisition of World Cup star Travis Head caught the eye.

Sunrisers Hyderabad won the opener for INR 6.8 crore, outbidding Chennai Super Kings and covering all of their bases. Notably, Head was the star of the show in the ODI World Cup 2023 final, which he won by defeating India. Head hit 137 runs in 120 deliveries while pursuing a 241-run total to secure victory for the Men in Yellow.
