BCCI announced India’s squad for the U-19 World Cup in South Africa in 2024. The tri-series will begin on December 29th, while the U-19 World Cup will begin in January 2024.

On Tuesday, December 12, the BCCI’s Junior Selection Committee revealed the U-19 men’s team for the tri-series in South Africa and the forthcoming ICC Men’s U19 World Cup 2024. The tri-series will include England, South Africa, and India and will begin on December 29, 2023, with the final on January 10, 2024.

Following the tri-nation competition, India’s U-19 team will begin preparations for the crucial U-19 World Cup. Which will also be held in South Africa beginning January 19 with the opening match between Ireland and the United States. Notably, India assigned to Group A of the competition, with Bangladesh, Ireland, and the United States.

The Men in Blue will kick off their campaign against Bangladesh in Bloemfontein on January 20, 2024. They will next face Ireland and the United States on January 25th and 28th, respectively.

The tournament will have 16 teams divided into four groups, with a total of 16 teams playing. At the conclusion of the group stage. The top three teams from each group will advance to the Super Six phase. Where the top four teams will compete in the semi-finals. The competition’s final held on February 11 at Willowmoore Park in Benoni.

India are the most successful team in U-19 World Cup history

Notably, India has won the U-19 World Cup the most times, five times (2000, 2008, 2012, 2018, and 2022), followed by Australia, who has won it five times. South Africa will host the headline event for the third time, having previously held in 1998 and 2020.

Ahead of the 15th edition of the tournament, the participating teams will also play two warm-up fixtures each between January 13-17.
