Ruturaj Gaikwad claimed that there is a six-hitting competition in the Indian camp. Gaikwad also spoke about his colleague Yashasvi Jaiswal.
Ruturaj Gaikwad disclosed ahead of India’s first T20I against South Africa in Durban that the squad conducted a friendly six-hitting tournament during the five-match series against Australia. Notably, the Men in Blue trounced the Matthew Wade-led team in the series, winning 4-1.
Speaking about the team relationships throughout the series, the top-order batter claimed that some of the players particularly loved the six-hitting challenge, which Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rinku Singh won easily. He also stated that the squad did not have much preparation prior to the first T20I against the Proteas. They are prepared for a six-hitting duel against the Aiden Markram-led side.
“Some of the players competed in a six-hitting competition during the five-match T20I series against Australia. ” We didn’t get much practice in before the first T20I against South Africa. Did we get some in before the series opener against Australia. We had a good time and liked hitting sixes during practice, so obviously, Rinku and Yashasvi are well ahead of the rest. ” Gaikwad told Star Sports.

Yashasvi is the type of player that never holds back: Gaikwad
In the series against Australia, the starting combination of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad faced considerable difficulties. Even though Ruturaj finished as the leading run-scorer, Yashasvi had potential for development. Meanwhile, Gaikwad said of his new opening partner, “He doesn’t hold back and plays an aggressive brand of cricket because his role is to hold one end.”
“He is usually the one who goes for the attacking shots from Ball 1.” Yashasvi is the type of player that never holds back. I just need to take a few risks and play according to what the team needs. When someone like Yashasvi is going hard on the other end, it’s obviously critical for me to hold the other end and allow him express himself the way he wants to. “I like batting with him,” Gaikwad said.
