Following Australia’s defeat in the Cricket World Cup final on Sunday, this photograph of Australian batsman Mitchell Marsh resting his foot on the trophy went viral on social media. Marsh’s actions were highly criticized, with many people claiming that he insulted the prize and the game. Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami, the World Cup’s leading wicket-taker, voiced his displeasure with the gesture.

He remarked that it upset him to see someone disrespect the prize for which all teams compete. Marsh’s actions made him very unhappy. Shami also said that he does not inspect the pitch before a match. Instead, the bowler wanted to observe how it would react when he bowled on the designated pitch.

“I’m in pain. “Keeping a foot on the trophy for which all the teams in the world fight, the trophy which you want to lift over your head, did not make me happy,” Mohammed Shami told reporters on Thursday.

“Generally, bowlers inspect the pitch upon arrival at the ground.” I never approach the wicket because you can only learn how it behaves when you bowl on it. So why put yourself under pressure? “It’s best to keep it simple and relaxed, and only then will you perform better. ” Shami told PUMA India.

He also discussed his early absence from India’s World Cup starting XI, adding that it was critical to remain psychologically strong when sitting out matches. Shami finished the season as the leading wicket-taker, with 24 scalps in just seven matches.

“You have to be mentally strong when you sit out four matches.” “You are under pressure at times, but when you see the team performing well and moving in the right direction, it gives you satisfaction,” he continued.

The Australian side is currently engaged in a five-match Twenty20 International series against India. The opening match of the series was played today at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam, and India won by two wickets to start the series on a strong note.
