Adam Gilchrist discusses his four World Cup favorites. “I believe India and Pakistan will be present, as well as Australia and England,” Gilchrist added.

The ODI World Cup 2023 is almost approaching. The main event is plan to commence on October 5 and will be hosted entirely by India for the first time. As the event approaches, fans will be hard at work determining who will be the tournament’s favorite.

Speaking of which, great former Australian batter Adam Gilchrist entered the stage and declared his four favorites to win the tournament. Gilchrist listed India, Pakistan, Australia, and England as the four likely contenders for the World Cup semi-finals.

“I think India and Pakistan could play; Australia and England are two other teams,” Adam Gilchrist told India Today.

Furthermore, Gilchrist has high hopes for Australia. Believing that they would perform well in India after learning from the South Africa series and the upcoming warm-up games.

“When Australia visits India, they will learn a lot from their efforts in South Africa. ” They face India three times before the World Cup. So, they’ll have a full-strength squad there, which may tell us something about where they’re at,” Gilchrist said.

It’s a very knowledgeable group: Gilchrist

Gilchrist also discussed how the situations in India differ greatly from those in South Africa. Gilchrist spoke on spinner Adam Zampa, saying he was on the receiving end in South Africa, but with his chance coming in the ODI World Cup, Zampa will be eager to prove himself.

“Adam Zampa was on the receiving end a little bit in South Africa, but it’s different conditions out here in India with different pitches, and he is a world-class spin bowler, and he has demonstrated that particularly across T20 cricket, and now he gets his chance in the 50-over World Cup.” So it’s a highly knowledgeable squad, and they’ll have to utilise all of that expertise against batting lineups all across the world and play fearlessly,” Gilchrist said.
