Dasun Shanaka addresses his batting concerns. Shanaka has only scored 54 runs in five matches so far in the Asia Cup 2023.
Dasun Shanka’s batting form is concerning ahead of the Asia Cup final versus India on September 17 in Colombo. The Sri Lankan captain has checked all the boxes in terms of leadership, but he has only scored 54 runs in five matches. With other middle order hitters on fire right now, there hasn’t been a huge demand for him, but the cricketer must improve to help his colleagues.
Meanwhile, when asked about it, the 32-year-old claimed that he isn’t focused much on his batting right now. He emphasized that as a captain, he must remain calm in order to make vital judgments. He also stated that he doesn’t want to improve as a batter, but he doesn’t give it much thought.
“When I go to lead the team, I don’t compare my batting.” My decision-making is more crucial than being a middle-order batter. I’m not suggesting that batting is unimportant, but I need to forget about what happened with the bat.
“Whenever decisions must be made, I must remain calm and cool.” Most of the time, I consider myself as someone who makes excellent decisions even after making mistakes with the bat, which has helped the team overcome the difficulties we faced. I must appreciate the selectors for continuing to believe in me. “They and the coaching staff believe in me and give me the confidence to be that leader who gets the most out of me,” Shanaka said, according to ESPNcricinfo.
