Laura Wolvaardt ‘excited’ for South Africa’s interim captaincy role. Due to Sune Luus’ resignation, Wolvaardt has been designated South Africa’s interim captain.
The 24-year-old South African cricketer Laura Wolvaardt, who is renowned for her outstanding batting abilities, has volunteered to serve as the team’s interim captain. Wolvaardt will serve as the team’s captain going forward in the forthcoming series against Pakistan and New Zealand since Sune Luus is stepping down.
She has the chance to demonstrate her leadership skills while still keeping her batting brilliance in this role. During these two series, it will be seen how well she can manage both her batting and her captaincy responsibilities.
Wolvaardt, on the other hand, is a captain who clearly takes a “soft-spoken” leadership style and wants to “lead through my actions.”
“It was important for it [captaincy] to be more of an interim position for the next two tours to see if it’s something I am able to handle and if I can still focus on my batting with the added responsibility,” said the captain, as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.

Wolvaardt has a lot of experience playing international cricket despite her youth
She made her debut at an early age and now ranks highly among South Africa’s all-time leading run scorers. She has also taken part in a number of World Cups and garnered recognition in numerous cricket leagues throughout the world.
Coach Hilton Moreeng is confident in Wolvaardt’s ability to succeed because of his methodical approach and comprehension of both positions. She plays cricket with a lot of discipline. Everyone on the team can see how she approaches her game. The obligation won’t have an effect on her performance, in my opinion,” Moreeng added. She is aware of the significance of her two responsibilities on the squad. Regarding her performances, we don’t believe it should be difficult,” he remarked.
Excitation greeted Wolvaardt’s choice to assume the captaincy. She acknowledged that it had undoubtedly been on her mind at all times.
She had previously held back her curiosity out of deference to her predecessors. But when the chance came up, she was eager to take on the challenge. She said confidently, “I think it will test me as a cricketer and develop my skills as well.
Wolvaardt intends to set an example by remaining composed, concentrating on leading from the front. I tend to be a little more subdued than other captains, ” I said. Simply put, I’m going to strive to lead by example and take the lead. I hope that’s okay,” she continued.
