Pooran shows wounds of war after WI beat IND in 5th T20I. In the five-match T20I series between the West Indies and India, Nicholas Pooran scored the most runs.

India lost three matches in a five-match T20I series to the West Indies, who won the series 3-2. There were numerous noteworthy performances from the West Indies team during the series, including Romario Shepherd and Jason Holder, but Nicholas Pooran was a pivotal player, scoring 176 runs at an average of 35.20 and a strike rate of 141.94. In reality, neither team’s other batter scored more runs than the wicketkeeper-batter.

Pooran hit 47 off 35 balls to assist his team win the fifth T20I in Lauderhill, where they were chasing 166 to win the series. During the knock, though, the southpaw was hit on the abdomen by an Arshdeep Singh delivery. In the sixth over, Brandon King’s bludgeoning stroke from Kuldeep Yadav hit Pooran on the forearm. On social media, the former West Indies skipper shared a photo of his combat wounds.

“The after effects thank you brandon king and arsdeep,” Pooran captioned the photo on his ‘X’ handle. The 27-year-old was duly named Player of the season for his outstanding performances throughout the season.

Nicholas Pooran is a big player for us: Rovman Powell

West Indies captain Rovman Powell lavished accolades on Pooran during the post-match ceremonies. The 30-year-old also praised Pooran and said that club management had requested him to perform well in three of the five games, and the left-handed hitter did not disappoint.

“Nicholas Pooran is a key player for us; we asked him to perform in at least three of the five games, and he delivered.” Nobody can perform well in every game, therefore we asked him to perform well in three games,” Rovman said.

This was a much-needed series victory for the West Indies, who have struggled to find their feet in recent seasons across forms.
