Shubman addresses rough patch during West Indies tour

Shubman addresses rough patch during West Indies tour. In the final ODI in Trinidad, India is on a roll with the bat.

Shubman Gill’s batting form has been a big discussion point in the recent West Indies-India series. The teenager struggled in the Test matches. He didn’t fare much better in the first two ODIs of the series. As a result, there was some anxiety ahead of the ODI World Cup, especially with Ishan Kishan on fire right now.

Gill addressed the matter ahead of the series’ final ODI. Stating that he is aware of a downturn in form at the moment. He stated being dissatisfied at the time and said that it’s about mental fortitude and turning small beginnings into large sums.

“I’m not happy with how things have gone for me on this tour.” But I’ve been doing good at the plate. “It’s about mental toughness and turning small starts into big ones,” Gill told broadcasters ahead of the third ODI in Trinidad.

Meanwhile, Gill quickly recovered from his troubles and returned to form. The batsman, along with Ishan Kishan, provided India a fantastic start in the third encounter, as their 143-run partnership established the tone of the game. The southpaw scored 77 runs off 64 deliveries, while Gill also reached a half-century and will now attempt to surpass the three-figure mark (at the time of writing).

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s absence raise further questions

To give every player a chance ahead of the ODI World Cup, the Indian team management chose to rest Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the final two games of the series. This has prompted new concerns, as India’s top order appeared to be set. Both Rohit and Virat are certain starters in the tournament, so attempting something different has drawn a lot of criticism.

Nonetheless, India managed to get off to a fantastic start in the middle, and if they eventually win the series, the conversation is likely to die down, but if things go wrong, this might end up being the most talked about topic heading into the championship.
