Stuart Broad’s mother praises her son for retiring at the right time. Broad announced his retirement from professional cricket after the fifth Test at the Oval ended on Day 3.
Stuart Broad, a veteran English seamer, announced the end of his remarkable career on Day 3 of the fifth Test of the Ashes 2023 at the Oval in London. The great seamer will be seen playing his final two days of professional cricket during the present fifth Test. The 37-year-old has 602 wickets from 167 appearances at an average of 27.69, including 20 five-wicket hauls.
Broad’s mother Carole Broad commented on his surprise retirement, saying that his son made the correct decision and that she hoped England would win the Test. Notably, England has set Australia a goal of 384 to win the fourth Test.
‘We want to win right now. We knew for sure in the morning, our lips were sealed. I had a tremendous hitting day yesterday, so I had something to focus on. Of course, you have chats, but Stuart is a master at making the correct decision, and he’s done it again. ” Carole Broad cite in the Daily Mail as saying.
His mother also expressed her emotions, revealing that she feels tingles whenever his son comes onto the field to play for England.
“I got a thrill the first time I watch him coming down the stairs, and I still do. “All I want is for them to win,” she continued.

Broad is the second highest wicket taker of Ashes 2023
Broad made history by becoming the first English bowler to notch up 150 wickets in Ashes history. He is the third highest wicket-taker in Ashes history. 151 wickets from 40 matches at an average of 29.03 and eight five-wicket hauls.
He is also the series’ second-highest wicket-taker, with 20 wickets from 10 innings at an average of 28.90. He is three wickets behind Mitchell Starc in the series and will be aiming to end as the series’ leading wicket-taker by bowling England to victory in the fifth and final Test.
