As the third Test of the Ashes 2023 began, England won the toss and chose to bowl first. Looking to claw their way back into the series, England’s decision seemed to work in their favor, as they put up a magnificent performance with the ball.
The English pace attack demolished Australia’s batting order, with only Mitchell Marsh’s knock able to keep the visitors’ innings afloat. However, England had a major setback when bowler Ollie Robinson hurt himself during the first innings.
Robinson had to leave the pitch after the second ball of the 43rd over, and Stuart Broad took his place. The pacemaker had ankle troubles before to the series. His problems compounded when it was revealed that Robinson had a muscle spasm in his back and would be out for the rest of the day.
Ollie Robinson was recently involved in a significant controversy after publicly abusing Australian opener Usman Khawaja after dismissing him in the first Ashes Test. His verbal altercation with Khawaja made headlines, and several previous and current stars weighed in on the issue.

Australia got bundled out for 263 in the first innings
In the first innings of the third Ashes Test, Australia’s Pat Cummins-led team looked to put up a huge total. The English pacers, on the other hand, had a different scheme. Australia’s top order crumbled under England’s unrelenting bowling onslaught.
David Warner was dismissed for four runs, Khawaja was dismissed for 13 runs, Marnus Labuschagne was dismissed for 21 runs, and Steve Smith was dismissed for 22 runs. Mitchell Marsh hit 118 runs in as many deliveries to help Australia score 263 runs in the first innings. When England bats, they will want to build a large advantage over their archrivals.
