Ishant Sharma, a senior Indian bowler, recalls star batter Virat Kohli’s most difficult period in his life. Ishant and Kohli have had a strong friendship since the beginning of their cricket careers. Both players have known each other since they were U-17s and have represented Delhi and India together.
Ishant discussed Kohli’s terrible period following his father’s death. Before batting and winning the game at 17, the former India hitter was lonely and dejected, according to the bowler. He went on to say that he has no idea how Kohli accomplished it, and that if it had occurred to him, he would not have gone to the ground.
“The day Virat Kohli’s father died, he was alone and sad, didn’t know how to react, but then he batted and won the game when he was only 17 years old – till today I don’t understand how, if that happened to me, I would not have gone to ground,” Ishant stated on BeerBiceps’ Youtube channel.

Ishant then recalled Kohli’s challenging phase, noting that the top India batter has gone through considerable adjustments throughout his career. The 34-year-old stated that the former India captain enjoyed parties and that during a tournament in Kolkata, he partied all night before hitting 250 the next day.
“I’ve seen all of his phases. Transformed his career from party to tattoo, from fitness freak to top performance. He liked to party, and at a tournament in Kolkata, he stayed out all night and scored 250 the next day. “He had been unbeaten the day before, and we were representing Delhi in U-19 cricket,” Ishant explained.
Kohli played in the 2023 ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia at The Oval in London. On the fifth day of the one-off Test, India were defeated by the Pat Cummins-led side by a crushing 209-run margin. Notably, the 34-year-old batsman struggled with the bat, getting 14 and 49 runs in India’s two innings.
Rohit Sharma and company will travel to the West Indies for two Tests, three ODIs, and five T20Is. The two-match Test series will be India’s first assignment in the new World Test Championship cycle 2023-25.
