Sanjay Bangar reflects on DK terrible IPL 2023 season as a wicketkeeper. RCB were eliminate from the IPL 2023 after their loss against Gujarat Titans in the previous match.
Dinesh Karthik suffer yet another IPL 2023 failure when he was removed for a golden duck against Gujarat Titans on Sunday, May 21 at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Notably, he set the record for most ducks registered by a batter in IPL history, with 17 ducks to his name. In 2022, the wicketkeeper-batter had an entirely different season, scoring 330 runs with a strike rate of 183.33.
Karthik’s poor record was one of the reasons for RCB’s elimination from the tournament’s league stage. Head coach Sanjay Bangar stated of Karthik’s performance, “The team had defined a role for the wicketkeeper-batter this season, but he couldn’t click this season.”
“We attempted to define his role for him. We made certain that he walked in during times or phases when his strengths may have been maximized. And he had a fantastic season last year. So I don’t believe his efforts, preparation, or role clarity were any different last season. “It just didn’t click this season,” Bangar stated after the loss during the post-match press conference, according to India Today.
Bangar went on to say that if Karthik had connected in a couple of games and scored 15-20 runs, the RCB may have won. He also stated that the youths should have been more consistent.
“DK had a season that was probably below his standard; if he had clicked in a couple of games, we would have added 15-20 runs more in the crucial games, and those runs could have been the difference between winning and losing a game.” And you must be patient with young players, which most teams agree on, and you must spend time. Mahipal played a few innings, but he should have been a regular.
