India was brilliant with the bat once more, led by Rohit Sharma, but we also thought it was impressive that India managed to change its bowling plans a little. The batting order for this series is pretty much set. Rohit Sharma, KL, Rahul, and Virat Kohli in the top-3 with SKY and Pandya to follow. Dinesh Karthik also showed why the team management rates him so highly and he will play.
The only question is over Rishab Pant. In an ideal world, Hardik Pandya would bowl his four overs and India could play both Pant and DK. For the time being, the options are to trust Pandya, bring back Bhuvneshwar Kumar, or maybe replace Pant with Hooda who can bowl a few overs.
We are hoping that the Indian team goes with option one or three but we will come to know at the toss.
Either way, India's batting is powerful and will be aggressive. Betting on the number of boundaries and sixes seems like a good option here. Also, Axar Patel and Jasprit Bumrah were the standout bowlers for India. These are the only two bowlers we trust enough to bet on right now.
Australia is such a strong cricketing nation with an incredible amount of depth. It may have lost the second T20 but it still pushed India to the brink. Aaron Finch has been getting very quick starts, Cameron Green seems to have the license to attack from ball one, and Matthew Wade is just in incredible touch.
We have yet to see the best of Glenn Maxwell, Steve Smith, or Tim David, all of whom are match-winners as well.
Australia's batting is as strong as India's and on a given day, it can be much more powerful. Once again, betting on the number of fours and sixes seems like a good idea in this match.
Australia's best bowler in the shortened match was Adam Zampa. His match-up with Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Virat Kohli is quite good. He got two of them in the previous match and could be introduced early once more. The rest of the bowling has been expensive and Australia has a lot to think about as well.
india vs australia cricket bettingIndia vs Australia 1st T20 Predictions & Tips – Top class Kohli backed to go big
India should have the edge on home soil especially with the return to form of Virat Kohli. That combined with Australia suffering crucial injuries leads me to back the hosts and Virat Kohli to go big.
India’s Virat Kohli scored 122 runs in his last T20 match.India’s Virat Kohli has scored 50+ runs in 3 of his last 4 T20 matches.Australia’s David Warner has scored 39+ runs in 2 of his last 3 T20 matches.
Australia have won three of their last five T20 fixtures against India. The last of those wins came by 12 runs in December 2020.
India come into this home series under some pressure after failing to make any real impression at the recent Asia Cup. Despite getting through the group stage unbeaten, India lost to Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the Super 4 stage.
In their last match India did manage to put in a dominant performance in Dubai. Batting first they scored 212 as KL Rahul scored 62 but was outclassed by Virat Kohli who smashed his way to 122 off 61 balls. The return to form of Kohli will be a big plus for India.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar finished the job off with the ball, taking 5-4 in four overs. It was a scintillating spell of fast bowling by the quick as Afghanistan could only reach 111 in 20 overs.
Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel both return to the India squad after being rested in recent series’.
Australia have played a fair amount of ODI cricket with their last T20 coming in early June when they toured Sri Lanka. They won that series 2-1.
Confidence will be high among the Aussies though as they have been very good in the ODI format too. They recently beat New Zealand 3-0 in a series and prior to that also defeated Zimbabwe.
Australia are missing several first choice players. Mitchell Starc, Mitchell Marsh and Marcus Stoinis have all miss this tour through injury, while David Warner has been rested for the series.
india vs australia cricket bettingIndia vs Australia 2023 Schedule
India and Australia play each other quite often but a series between them is always exciting. The fans are always on edge and both teams hate losing to the other. As two of the best teams in world cricket, India vs Australia can get quite heated at times!
India suffered an early exit in the Asia Cup but we still think it played some excellent cricket, especially with the bat. There are a couple of questions that it has to answer.
Should Virat Kohli open the batting?
DK or Pant or both?
Who are India’s best three fast-bowlers for Australia?
One Spinner or two?
From this series, we do expect India to start playing a full-strength team in most matches. To start out, we think Rohit Sharma, Kl Rahul, and Virat Kohli will be the top-3. There is a lot of noise on social media that these three cannot fit into the T20 team together.
If there is a player that will go then that’s KL Rahul but we think that is unlikely. KL Rahul’s ability against pace and bounce will be crucial in Australia but he will be required to score quicker.
SKY and Hardik Pandya are certainties in the middle-order. With Axar Patel likely to play at number 7, there is just one position open for DK or Pant. We think India will go with Dinesh Karthik and allow him the opportunity to present his case.
This is a strong batting lineup with a decent amount of depth. Axar at 7 is a step down from Jadeja and that is where India may find it tough to continue its high-risk attack strategy if it loses early wickets.
The return of Jasprit Bumrah could not have come at a better stage. He is India’s premier T20 bowler and needs some time in the middle before the T20 World Cup. We think Yuzvendra Chahal, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Harshal Patel will be the preferred combination for India. If Bhuvneshwar Kumar is rested, then Deepak Chahar is an excellent option.
At home, India is going to be hard to stop. Its batting is strong with Virat Kohli in form and its bowling is also stronger than what we saw in the Asia Cup.
Australia
Australia has rested David Warner for this series. It is also going to be without Mitchell Marsh, Mitchell Starc, and Marcus Stoinis. All four of these players are certain starters in a full-strength Australian team and so the playing eleven for the series against India is going to be quite different than what we see in the T20 World Cup.
We think this Australian team will have a tough time competing against India. Aaron Finch is going through a terrible run of form, Steve Smith is not a top-rated T20 player, and Matthew Wade’s history against spin is not great either.
Josh Inglis could open the batting, Cameron Green could replace Mitchell Marsh, and Tim David will replace Marcus Stoinis. To be fair, all three of these players are world-class but they are short of experience at the top level.
Tim David lit up the IPL the last time around and it will be interesting to see if he can convert his big-hitting exploits from the T20 leagues to international cricket as well.
While the Aussie batting seems a bit undercooked, its bowling is very strong. Josh Hazelwood, Pat Cummins, and Adam Zampa are sure to start. We think Kane Richardson is probably going to be the third seamer with Green, Maxwell, and even David chipping in as needed.
Australia has a great set of all-rounders and that will allow it to play a very deep batting lineup. Whether the inexperience in the team ends up costing it is going to be the question.
