Michael Atherton On Virat Kohli
“I’m more familiar with Rahul Dravid than Virat Kohli. It was great to talk with them both; Rahul I played against and have a lot of respect for. I wish him well as the Indian team’s coach, and I hope Virat can rediscover his best form after a couple of difficult years with the bat “Atherton stated this while speaking with David Gower, Ajay Jadeja, and Harsha Bhogle on Sony Sports Network prior to the start of play on Day 2.
“I am a big admirer of his cricket, his batting, and the way he has driven the Indian Test team forward as captain, as well as the way he has promoted Test cricket,” he added.
Kohli had led Team India to 40 victories and 17 defeats in 68 Tests. Kohli led India to a Test series victory in Australia in 2018-19.
Kohli last scored a century in a day-night Test against Bangladesh at Eden Gardens in November 2019.
Since then, he has failed to reach the three-figure mark. Kohli faced 19 balls and hit two fours in his 11-run knock in the first innings of the ongoing Test against England before being sent to the pavilion by Potts.
