IPL 2022: Gujarat Titans batsman David Miller says it’s nice to play every game.
Gujarat Titans have “100% endorsed” David Miller, who was not a guaranteed starter; in the playing eleven for his previous two IPL teams. On Sunday night, Miller hit a 51-ball 94 to lead Gujarat Titans; to a thrilling three-wicket victory over Chennai Super Kings. After a long time, the South African delivered a game-changing knock in the IPL. “The last two-three-four years, I’ve been playing really nice cricket; feeling positive, and scoring nice personally, back at home, overseas, and so on,” he said at the post-match media interaction. “Unfortunately, the last four-five years, I haven’t really played as much IPL cricket as I would have liked to.”
“…the nature of the game, competition (is such that) there are only four abroad (players) and other overseas players will always miss out, and I sort of found myself in between a spot where I have been in and out of Kings XI (Punjab Kings) and then Rajasthan.”
“I played some decent games there, but I felt like I couldn’t get going, so it’s been encouraging to be a part of Gujarat Titans and just know I’m 100 percent backed, and we have a really nice environment where we enjoy each other’s success, which helps us do well, but more importantly, it’s nice to play every game.” He had a good start to the inning and didn’t want to stop after that.

“Yes, we were definitely in trouble, but I still believed that if we batted 20 overs, we had a chance, and you never know if you’re sitting on the bench.”
“I just wanted to try and play my game,” Miller explained. “The way I started my innings, I thought I started quite well and I didn’t want to stop, I wanted to keep going.”
Gujarat were 87/5 in pursuit of 170 runs when Miller and stand-in captain Rashid Kha teamed up for a match-winning 70-run partnership for the sixth wicket.
“When I arrived, the (run) rate was already at 9 or 10; it had risen swiftly. At the end of the day, I can’t control what the other hitters do, so whoever was batting with me at the moment, I just wanted to try to create something with him and see where it went “When asked how he felt when the team was down five players, Miller explained.

According to Miller, the strategy of attacking CSK’s spinners worked, and they were obliged to bowl pacers.
“They had three spinners, and I figured if they bowled well, they’d bowl all the overs towards me and then try to switch up the pace bowlers and work it around,” he explained. “However, because we brought them on early, they were forced to bowl the pace bowlers, and that was pretty much the plan,” he added.
