Salman’s journey as a CSK net bowler takes him from a tent to the Trident.
“Yeh, there’s a swimming pool.” Ek dum Maldives jaisa hai (See at the pool.) It’s the same way it is within the Maldives);” Salman Khan, 22, gives his family a virtual visit of their extravagant lodging; which they share with his father, who works as a groundsman at Mumbai’s Cross Maidan. The tent serves as a dressing room for cricket groups on ordinary cricketing afternoons. Except for his father, Idris, no one in his family knew where the Maldives were or why they were celebrated. Salman, on the other hand, has been living the great life since being marked; by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as a net bowler for the progressing Indian Premier League season.
He claims that his conversations at home these days are uncommon. His father inquires not only about what occurred at the nets; but also about the hotel in which he is stationed. If he met Mahendra Singh Dhoni, what did he learn from him.
The historic hotel at Nariman Point has long been a beacon for Mumbai residents; but Salman had never seen it from the inside before CSK.
His father has rolled fields and seen numerous youngsters become stars overnight over the years; and now the family is hoping that Salman can reverse the family’s fortunes.
One day, I got a call from a Chennai Super Rulers official inquiring whether; I was curious about joining as a net bowler for the up and coming season. Afterward, I learned that (Mumbai footballer) Tushar Deshpande had prescribed my title. I was excited since I’d be able to memorize something modern, something else.

I’d essentially be playing club cricket, “Salman stated over the phone. CSK were among the primary groups to help net bowlers make the move to the IPL. Mukesh Choudhary and Prashant Solanki, two current establishment players; were net bowlers for them till their final season, some time recently marked at this year’s huge sell off.
Salman is hoping for the same thing to happen to him. His father routinely ends his chats with a single line. “Abu phone karke bolta hai achcha kar, tera acha hoga, toh hamara bhi hoga, toh hamara bhi hoga, toh hamara bhi hoga, toh hamara bhi hoga, toh hamara bh (Whenever my father calls, he tells me to do well so that something wonderful would happen to them in the future.) Bowling mein khush kar dena Make everyone smile with your bowling skills). “I only say I’ll give it my all,” Salman, who has played under-23 and junior cricket for Mumbai, says.
Treatment on an equal footing
Salman’s house is bathed in the sunshine of the floodlights and the raucous cheering from the Wankhede Stadium. He’s been posting pictures of himself with Dhoni and other players on social media. Salman ran into Dhoni and CSK skipper Ravindra Jadeja and inquired about his bowling performance. It took some time to win Dhoni’s trust, but at CSK, everyone is treated equally, according to Salman.

Idris is ecstatic that his son has received such a strong push back at Cross Maidan. He has witnessed Sachin Tendulkar become Tendulkar and Zaheer Khan become India’s lethal fast bowler in his four decades as a groundsman.
“I’m ecstatic for him. I’m a petite dude. I simply want him to succeed in life. I’ve seen individuals become stars in my 40 years as a groundskeeper; all I want for my son is for him to play decent cricket and stand on his own two feet,” Idris hopes.
Salman will now hope that his life changes as he moves from the Tent to the Trident Hotel.
