Jeff Vaughan is stepping down as Australia’s assistant coach to take on the post of Tasmania’s assistant coach.
Jeff Vaughan, Australia’s Men’s Assistant Manage, has stepped down to coach Tasmania’s state side. The announcement comes just days after Andrew McDonald was named Australia’s new head coach.
In a statement, Vaughan stated; “I feel really lucky with how everything has turned out. “I’ve been a part of the program from the beginning; and I’m certain that I’ve continued to hone my coaching and leadership; skills to help the Tigers’ program grow holistically and for the players individually.”
“I’m really thankful to Cricket Australia for the chance; and to Cricket Tasmania for being so accommodating about my return, so I can’t wait to get involved; in and continue to steer the program in the right direction for a long time.”
Vaughan was named Australia’s Assistant Coach with Michael Di Venuto in July 2021; and was a part of the team’s recent T20 World Cup victory as well as their Test series victories; over England at home and Pakistan on the road. Tasmania is excited to have his “strong vision” in their lineup.

In a articulation, Cricket Tasmania CEO Dominic Bread cook said; “We’re cheerful to have Jeff back at the steerage of our male Tigers program. “We clearly need the leading accessible candidate for the work; who too knows and fits our company’s culture, and Jeff certainly checks both of those boxes. “We’ve all been taking after the Australian men’s program’s advance all through the summer; and there’s nothing more to say around it but it was a tremendous victory; and Jeff was a huge portion of it.
“Ali has done a tremendous job this year in extremely tough and frequently unclear conditions; but the fact that the transition from Jeff to Ali went so well was due to Jeff’s solid vision; which everyone agreed on.

“We had a candidate almost ready to return in December who unfortunately fell through; but the timing of everything has been rather serendipitous; since Jeff obviously knows the program and the players so well, the transition should now be simple.”
