IPL 2022: Dinesh Karthik Stars In Regal Challengers Bangalore’s Comeback Win Over Rajasthan Royals
Royal Challengers Bangalore recuperated from a scaled down batting collapse with a four-wicket; win over Rajasthan Royals within the Indian Head Association on Tuesday; much appreciated to a brilliant show of hitting from Dinesh Karthik and Shahbaz Ahmed. Rajasthan Royals battled their way to 169 for three after RCB chose to bowl. Jos Buttler crushed half a dozen sixes in his unbeaten 70 off 47 balls.
RCB were in genuine inconvenience at 62 for four after losing four wickets in 11 conveyances. Be that as it may, Karthik (44 not out off 23 balls); and Ahmed (45 off 26) put the diversion out of reach with a 67-run stand off fair 33 balls.
Karthik led the team to victory in 19.1 overs. It was RCB’s second win in three games, while the Royals suffered; their first loss of the season following a string of victories.
RCB were on track for a run chase when they reached 55 for no loss in the seventh over; but the game was flipped on its head when the Royals took a flurry of wickets.
The RCB’s downfall was partly due to the wily Yuzvendra Chahal (2/15); who was playing against a squad with which he had spent seven seasons. He forced an error from Faf du Plessis (29), who mistimed a leg break and was caught at long-on; before sweeping David Willey (0) with a brilliant leg-break.

Virat Kohli (5) was also run out by Chahal following a superb catch and throw from Royals skipper Sanju Samson. Trent Boult’s dismissal of Sherfane Rutherford brought the score to 87 for five, putting RCB in serious trouble.
That’s when Karthik, who has been in superb form this season, entered the fray and resurrected RCB; with some brilliant strokes, including a reverse sweep off Ravichandran Ashwin’s fourth over, which yielded 21 runs.
Karthik and Ahmed did the bulk of the damage while batting together; putting on a 50-run stand in just 21 balls.
Buttler, who had just scored a century the previous game; had to work hard in his 47-ball innings on a sluggish Wankhede pitch. At the other end, he had Shimron Hetmyer (42 not out off 31); with whom he established an undefeated 83-run partnership off 51 balls.
The Royals struggled in the Powerplay, reaching 35 points after losing opener Yashasvi Jaiswal (4).

The Royals were also assisted by RCB fielding, as Buttler was drop; twice in the same over bowled by Akash Deep. In the same over, Buttler crushed Akash Deep over far off for a six, adding insult to injury.
Samson (8) was dismiss softly by Wanindu Hasaranga after his former RCB; teammate Harshal Patel sent Padikkal back to the dressing room.
In the 12th over, the ball seemed to stop on Samson, who delivered a sitter straight back; to Hasaranga, leaving the Royals at 86 for three.
