Coach of Chennai Super Kings’ Hilarious Take On Dew Factor In Mumbai: “Like Niagara Falls”
The Chennai Super Kings‘ head coach, Stephen Fleming, compared the dew during his team’s IPL 2022; match against the Lucknow Super Giants to Niagara Falls; defending his decision to have Shivam Dube bowl the match-winning 19th over at the expense of spinners.
With LSG needing 34 runs in 12 balls, Man-of-the-Match Evin Lewis and Ayush Badoni blasted; Dube for 25 runs in the last over at the Brabourne Stadium, reducing the deficit to nine runs. LSG won their first IPL match on Thursday night when they got the needed runs with three balls to spare.
“If you’d seen earlier on, spinning options were taken out of play because the wetness was like Niagara Falls; and they (LSG) played brilliantly,” Fleming remarked during the virtual post-match press conference.
“As a result, it was extremely difficult to both grip the ball; and be efficient as a spinner.” We were a man down early on, but they played well. “We always knew we’d have to pick up an over somewhere — we were trying; to build up enough of a run rate at the finish to get someone in.”
CSK were forced to rely on Dube’s medium pace bowling after Ravindra Jadeja’s two overs yielded; 21 runs and Moeen Ali’s one over yielded 14 runs. “Whether it was another spinner or not; the choice to utilize Dube was made in the middle, and they counted it effectively.”

“So we always knew that one over would be crucial, and I think they did as well,” Fleming said; “but they played it extremely well.” CSK failed to gain early breakthroughs after setting a target of 211; as KL Rahul (40) and Quinton de Kock (61); put on 99 runs in 10 overs to build a strong foundation for LSG.
Because of the heavy dew, the head coach underlined that they had; to go on the defense after the 10th over. Tushar Deshpande and Mukesh Choudhary, the two new-ball bowlers, were commended by Fleming.
“We’ve got some young lads — Deshpande is playing Mukesh for the first time; and Mukesh hasn’t played much.” However, I thought it was quite sincere. It’s quite difficult out there; you don’t realize how wet the ball is or how wet the outfield is.
“It’s really difficult to get any aggressive play, and I believe we bowled defensively from; about 10 overs onwards.” Fleming, who played for CSK in the inaugural season, remarked; “I thought they hung in extremely well, started really well in terrible conditions.”
Deepak Chahar, Chris Jordan, and Adam Milne, the Super Kings’ three best bowlers, were unable to play due to injury.
“Adam Milne has received therapy, and he should be back soon.” Chris Jordan, and, of course, Deepak Chahar, are also on the way, hopefully not too far away. “So we’re a little bit resource-depleted with our fast bowling,” Fleming said, “but at some point, all teams will realize they’re a little bit slim in some areas.”

He thought a total of 210 was reasonable, but said that fielding second is difficult due to the batters’ advantage in the conditions.
“We thought it was almost standard, and that’s the nature of the current conditions, which favor the side batting moment.” We performed extraordinary to reach 210, but we knew it was fair aiming to gotten to be harder as the night progressed.
“To be fair, we worked beautiful difficult to remain within the amusement.” In terms of defense, I thought we were incredible. We fair knuckled down after approximately 10 overs, and I thought we did a breathtaking work of remaining within the diversion. But it’s extreme handling moment right presently,” Fleming watched.
