AEW Revolution: CM Punk performs the ROH theme, Sting leaps from the balcony, and Regal makes a comeback
On Sunday, All Elite Wrestling (AEW) presented Revolution; its first pay-per-view event of the year, to kick off 2022 on a high note. Even though it felt a little long, Revolution was a huge success, harkening back to WWE’s one-night Wrestlemanias; which tended to last over 7 hours until being shifted to a two-night event in 2020.
The Transformation delivered various talking focuses, counting CM Punk vs. MJF in a pooch collar coordinate, Adam Page vs. Adam Cole for the AEW World Championship, and Daniel Bryan and Jon Moxley’s; war of steady loss in which both men wore ruddy covers in a claret drenched moderate burn match. The taking after are the foremost critical takeaways from the show: After Wardlow’s confront turn, MJF loses to CM Punk.
In his Ring of Honor-era gear, CM Punk made his entrance to AFI’s “Miseria Cantare” for his battle; against MJF, which was as vicious as the match it was paying homage to, the Roddy Piper vs. Greg Valentine match from Starrcade ’83. The match came to an end when MJF called for Wardlow’s help and demanded; his Dynamite Diamond Ring, which the latter said he couldn’t find and smirked. Wardlow finished his face turn by removing the Dynamite Diamond Ring and leaving; it on the canvas for CM Punk to pick up and use to nail MJF.

Before William Regal makes his AEW debut, Bryan Danielson loses to John Moxley.
Jon Moxley, the AEW’s resident mauler, defeated American Dragon Bryan Danielson in a brutal brawl. Even after the pin, a very stunned Danielson continued to brawl; with Moxley until William Regal went down and slapped Moxley and Danielson to bring them to their senses. He then directed Danielson and Moxley to shake hands, which they dutifully did.
In the Tornado Trios match, Sting turns back the clock.
Sting teamed up with Darby Allin and TNT Champion Sammy Guevara to take on Andrade El Idolo; Isiah Kassidy, and “Big Money” Matt Hardy in the night’s penultimate bout. When Sting made a 15-foot-high jump from the balcony onto Andrade El Idolo through three tables in this encounter; he rolled back the years. WWE must be regretting themselves for not properly; utilizing Sting when he was in their books, given his age and the manner he has performed since joining AEW.
