Royal Challengers Bengaluru has been using artificial intelligence to extract the most out of statistics in order to assess players’ strengths. They analysed the net bowlers using a wealth of data and AI technology developed by the premier institute.
The technology is also being used to assess a player’s contribution to the game based on their performance. Several cricket-related and fantasy game companies are utilizing the technology to generate a variety of player data. Sunil Narine has been named the most impactful player in all IPL editions by an algorithm developed by IIT Madras’ Centre of Excellence in Sports Science and Analytics (CESSA).
“Our plan is to support approximately 30 sports technology startups each year. With the support of IIT Madras. We will develop nearly 200 such sports tech startups over the next five years in computer vision, data analytics, AI, machine learning, and biomechanics. ” Said Ramesh Kumar, CESSA’s CEO and former Global Head of ESPNcricinfo.
“We intend to offer some educational and training courses at IIT Madras. ” We are looking into supporting players in this space, which primarily uses IoT, deep tech, and ML,” Kumar added.
