Sourav Ganguly opines on India’s T20 World Cup squad. Ganguly gave Rinku motivation and thinks the team chosen for the upcoming T20 World Cup is ideal.
Sourav Ganguly, president of the BCCI and a former captain of India. Thrill with his country’s team for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Calling it one of the most equitable teams the selectors could have chosen, he also offered his condolences to Rinku Singh. The batter from Aligarh, who was one of the favorites to make the squad before the IPL, did not, as he was named as one of the traveling reserves.
Ganguly believes Rinku still has a lot of cricket in him and expects him to play frequently for the national squad. However, he understands why the 26-year-old drop, stating that the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee prioritized selecting an extra spinner, which might be useful in the spin-friendly conditions of the West Indies.

This has got to be among the fairest T20 World Cup squad I’ve ever seen
Not because I think other teams are unfair. In my opinion, Rohit and the selectors did an excellent job choosing this side. I believe Rinku left out because they prefer to use a different spinner. Nevertheless, Rinku is waiting, so good luck. Rinku’s career just getting start. He will be a major player for India. This shouldn’t depress him, in my opinion. However, I believe that this is a very good team—a strong team—Ganguly told reporters in Kolkata.
Notably, Yuzvendra Chahal, Sanju Samson, and Rishabh Pant were the subjects of numerous conversations. Chahal, who is not under BCCI’s central contract and not included in the T20 scheme of things. Perform admirably in the IPL 2024 thus far, which has helped him break into the 15-man squad. Samson and Pant have also performed incredibly well to join the team.
Meanwhile, skipper Rohit added that he is yet to announce the playing XI because he is unfamiliar with the circumstances in the United States. He did, however, leave the possibility of using an extra spinner open.
