Islamabad United emerged victorious in the ninth Pakistan Super League (PSL) by defeating Multan Sultans by two wickets in the championship match, which took place on March 18 at Karachi’s National Stadium.

The low attendance for the final showdown was one of the main problems. It is important to remember that this was not the first PSL game to be attend by few people; numerous prior group stage and knockout matches had empty seats.

The chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohsin Naqvi, taken aback by the low attendance during the championship game. Naqvi was question about the onlookers after the game. He emphasized that it is a significant worry and that the board will investigate it.

“In the future, the PCB will deal with this matter. Why was Karachi’s stadium empty? I find this to be both a riddle and a significant question. There were a lot of visitors to Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan, thus I find it strange that less people visited Karachi. Speaking to reporters following the game, Naqvi state, “We are attempting to find a solution to this.”

In the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL) final in Karachi, Islamabad United defeated Multan Sultans by two wickets because to the impressive performances of Imad Wasim (5/23) and Shadab Khan (3/32). With this victory, United had won the coveted T20 championship three times. As a result of their victory, the Sultans have now dropped three straight championship games.

Usman Khan could only muster 159 runs for the Sultans when they were place to bat first, with 57 runs scored. In the game’s last delivery, Martin Guptill, who opened for United, hit a resolute half-century and assisted his team in chasing the target. With two wickets apiece, Khushdil Shah and Iftikhar Ahmed proved crucial for the Sultans.
