After losing two consecutive matches in the Women’s Premier League 2024. RCB-W came out firing in their fifth match against UP Warriorz on Monday, March 4 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The hosts scored a massive 198/3 in their allotted 20 overs. Captain Smriti Mandhana leading from the front with a scintillating knock of 80 (50).
Apart from her, Ellyse Perry contributed a brilliant half-century, scoring 58 off 37 balls with four fours and as many sixes. Perry’s wrath extended not only to the UP bowlers. Also to the sponsor car parked in the stadium, as the right-handed batter broke its window with one of her maximums.
Deepti Sharma bowled the 19th over, and the incident occurred on the fifth ball. The Australian all-rounder also came down the track and launched the ball for a 76-metre six over the long-on boundary, smashing into the car’s window. Everyone in the stadium was taken aback by the incident. Perry even had an adorable reaction, tapping her head in apology for causing damage to the car.

Earlier, RCB captain Mandhana got her team off to a strong start with opening partner Sabbhineni Meghana (28 off 21). Adding 51 runs for the first wicket off 33 balls. Meghana bowl out by Deepti Sharma in the sixth over, but Perry came in at number three and compounded UP’s misery.
Mandhana and Perry added 95 runs for the second wicket
Perry and Mandhana combined for a massive 95-run stand off 64 balls, pushing RCB’s score past 140. The RCB captain was eventually dismissed for her highest WPL score of 80 (50), which included ten fours and three sixes.
Following her dismissal, Richa Ghosh (21* off 10) joined Perry at the crease. The duo put on another crucial stand of 42 off 18 balls, leading RCB to a massive score of 198/3 after 20 overs.
