Mumbai Indians unveiled an Indian peacock-inspired jersey. The Mumbai Indians won the inaugural WPL season by defeating the Delhi Capitals by seven wickets in the final.

After the maiden season of the WPL a resounding success last year, the cricket community is eagerly anticipating the start of the tournament’s second iteration.

The shirt keeps the essence of Mumbai Indians’ classic blue and gold uniforms.

“The jersey’s print is inspired by the hues of blue on the peacock’s neck and breast. Which have a distinct color and size gradient. The coral-peach color is inspired by the stem, the core part of the feather that is coral-brown in color. The gradient pattern is inspire by the natural geometric and color gradients visible on the peacock’s neck and breast feathers. ” the Mumbai Indians said in an official statement.

Harmanpreet Kaur and his teammates will wear the new shirt on February 23 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, when they face the Delhi Capitals in the WPL 2024 season opener. The Mumbai Indians’ official website lists the price for the player edition jersey as Rs 3,999.

Last year, Mumbai won six of their eight matches in the round-robin portion of the tournament to go to the Eliminator. England all-rounder Nat Sciver-Brunt was the franchise’s best run-getter, with 332 runs from 10 innings at an average of 66.40 and a strike rate of 140.08. Harmanpreet (281 runs) and Hayley Matthews (271 runs) also had successful campaigns. The latter also emerged as the tournament’s joint-highest wicket-taker, with 16 wickets from 10 matches and an average of 12.62. The West Indies captain received the Player of the Series award for her all-round performance.

The senior trio of Harmanpreet, Hayley, and Sciver-Brunt will be looking to motivate the younger players on the team and help the club retain the crown.
