Shakib Al Hasan has yet to confirm his availability for the Sri Lanka series. Shakib presently exclusively plays as a bowler for the Rangpur Riders in the BPL.
Shakib Al Hasan got a blow to his left index finger and was forced to depart India before Bangladesh’s final ODI World Cup game against Australia in Pune. He has been suffering from hazy vision since then. After that, the star all-rounder entered politics, winning the Magura seat in Bangladesh’s assembly elections. Following this, he returned to cricket and is currently playing for the Rangpur Riders in the ongoing BPL. However, Shakib is just bowling because he did not bat in the previous two matches.
He has struggled to achieve full fitness, which may postpone his comeback to the national team. Sri Lanka are scheduled to go to Bangladesh for a three-match ODI and T20I series, followed by a two-match Test series in March, but Shakib is unsure whether he will be able to attend. The 36-year-old has yet to confirm his availability and has claimed that he will speak with BCB officials before taking a call.
“Time will tell. We are still in the tournament. Cricbuzz reported Shakib as stating, “I will chat with the officials and then make a choice (whether to play Sri Lanka or not).
Meanwhile, Shakib has yet to decide on his ODI captaincy. The player stated that he has yet to address this with the management.
“I will take a decision in this regard (ODI captaincy) after talking with the board but we still have not discussed it,” he told reporters.

I can’t find the rhythm when there are no runs: Shakib
Shakib regretted not being able to deliver his all-round abilities for Rangpur during the current season. The cricketer has not batted and claims that he cannot find his rhythm when there are no runs. Meanwhile, he has discarded the idea of retiring from cricket and is working hard to make a successful comeback.
“The more runs I score, the more comfortable I will become. I can’t find my rhythm when there are no runs. I’ve never done something like this before (playing with only one side). It is my first time, and I feel for the Rangpur Riders. I am only able to meet half their expectations.
“I discovered that when the times are terrible, everything goes wrong. I’m not thinking about anything else (like quitting cricket), and I’m trying (to make a comeback), so let me finish my effort and then think about it,” Shakib added.
