Emotions run high as four West Indies winners exit from internationals. All four cricketers were part of the winning side for the Women’s T20 World Cup in 2016.
Anisa Mohammed, Shakera Selman, Kycia Knight, and Kyshona Knight have announced their retirements from international cricket. They have informed this to Cricket West Indies and are expected to play in franchise cricket.
Notably, all four cricketers competed in the 2016 T20 World Cup, where the Stafanie Taylor-led team defeated Australia in the final at Eden Gardens to claim the coveted trophy. Aside from that, they were incredibly successful on the international circuit. In addition, Anisha representing the national squad for more than 20 years, playing 158 white-ball matches and taking 305 wickets. In 2016, she also became the first player, male or female, to reach 100 wickets in the T20I format.
The 35-year-old announced her retirement, saying it was an honor to play for the West Indies for over 20 years and in many World Cups.
“The past 20 years have been genuinely great. I’ve enjoyed every minute of it. Highs and lows. “I believe the time has come for me to retire from the game and allow the young players to pursue their dreams as I have,” Anisha was quoted as saying by ICC.
“During my career, I had the opportunity to wear my maroon uniform 258 times. I’ve represented the West Indies in five ODI World Cups and seven (7) T20 World Cups. Thank you to my teammates for showing me so much love and respect during my time with them. “You’ll have made my journey memorable,” she concluded.

My aim was always to inspire and assist others in their dreams: Selman
Selman, who played 196 games for the West Indies in white-ball cricket, expressed her gratitude. She praise her teammates, CWI, and medical unit. Among others, and stated that her objective was always to inspire and help people achieve their dreams.
“This is my final bow after 18 great years. I’m delight to have play alongside and against legends, and I consider myself fortunate to have rejected a few. My goal was always to inspire and help people realize their aspirations. I am eternally grateful to God, my loving family and friends, and CWI, my teammates, and the medical and management teams for their steadfast support,” Selman stated.
Twins Kycia Knight and Kyshona Knight made their West Indies debuts in 2011 and 2013, respectively. Kycia played 157 matches for the national team, while Kyshona play 106. Following their retirement announcement, both thank the authorities, teammates, and supporters for their ongoing support.
