Former Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu announced his affiliation with MI Emirates for the upcoming ILT20 season, citing it as the key reason for his departure from the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP). Notably, he departed the political party barely eight days after joining on January 6.

After joining the YSRCP, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy launched a 45-day sports festival. However, the 38-year-old cricketer who resigned from the party first did not specify the cause for his decision, indicating that he was taking a vacation from politics and will reveal his future plans shortly. On January 7, he explained his decision, emphasizing his intention to maintain a non-political attitude while actively engaging in professional sport.

On Sunday, the former Chennai Super Kings hitter wrote on X.

Rayudu returns to MI banner after seven years

Ambati Rayudu has had a successful career in cricket, particularly in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Andhra Pradesh-born cricketer began his IPL career in 2010. The five-time champion Mumbai Indians (MI), and he has won trophies in 2013, 2015, and 2017. After seven years, he is back under the MI flag as he prepares for his ILT20 event.

Rayudu joined the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) after playing for MI in the IPL. In 2018, he added to his success in the lucrative competition by winning the IPL title in his inaugural season with the Chennai-based team. Surprisingly, he announced his resignation from the IPL after CSK’s title-winning season in 2023.
