I’ll be looking like a UFC fighter in T20 World Cup: Andre Russell. Russell scored 105 runs in five games and took seven wickets in the T20I series against England.
Andre Russell put in some impressive performances on his return to the West Indies team, which defeated England 3-2 in the just finished five-match series. The all-rounder scored 105 runs in five games with a strike rate of 169.35 and took seven wickets, the second-most by a cricketer in the series. As a result, Russell believes the performances will increase his confidence ahead of the next T20 World Cup, in which West Indies will attempt to capture their third title.
The 35-year-old also discussed his health and stated that he will look like a UFC fighter by the time the event begins. Notably, the West Indies failed to qualify for the T20 World Cup in 2022, therefore the players would be driven to perform well.
“To be honest, I’ll be in better shape: I’ll look like a UFC fighter.” This series victory means a lot. It motivates me to push myself to the maximum. We have a lot of cricket to play, which is great. When you play cricket and compete, your body is active, and you are not sitting at home watching the World Cup. “We will definitely give some teams a good, good run for their money in the World Cup,” Russell told TNT Sport.

I still get the pressure and the backlash but it just makes me stronger: Russell
Russell had an unusual relationship with Cricket West Indies (CWI) and the supporters. He received a lot of criticism after choosing to play franchise cricket over international matches, and as a result. CWI did not choose him in the team for numerous tournaments. He ultimately returned in the series against England and claimed that he admires the Caribbean fans for their passion. He also wants to focus on his health because he has two significant tournaments coming up.
“Fans won’t know, but I still feel the pressure, the backlash, and everything else.” It only strengthens me. I adore my Caribbean fans, and I know they are devoted to the game. If we make a mistake, they will be there to support us. “I want to make sure I do the necessary recoveries, drink a lot of coconut water, and get my body right – massages and everything,” Russell explained.
