West Indies defeated England by four wickets in the opening ODI of the three-match series on Sunday, December 03, at Antigua. West Indies defeated the enormous goal of 326 with seven balls to spare, taking a 1-0 series lead.

Under the scorching heat in the Caribbean, the southpaw batted the entire inning while wearing sunglasses. Curran came in to bat in the 39th over with England on 232/6 and produced a superb innings of 38 (26) with three fours and two sixes.

Returning to the contest, West Indies’ openers Alick Athanaze (66 off 65) and Brandon King (35 off 44) contributed 104 runs for the first wicket off 106 balls as they chased a mammoth goal of 326. West Indies also lost three wickets early after a solid opening partnership and were 144/3 after 29.1 overs.

Shai Hope and Romario Shepherd got involve in crucial partnership
West Indies skipper Shai Hope struck a magnificent century and played an innings of 109* off 83 balls. Slamming four fours and seven sixes. He was well supported by Romario Shepherd (49 off 28), who contributed to an 89-run partnership off 51 balls that put West Indies on the verge of victory.
Hope led his side to victory in the penultimate over, earning him the Player of the Match honor. The two teams will play the second ODI on Wednesday. December 6 at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua.
