Babar Azam teases Naseem Shah’s absence from the ODI World Cup early on. “I don’t know how long the recovery will take, but I believe Naseem Shah will play in the World Cup later on,” Babar Azam remarked.
After their recently concluded Super Four battle, Pakistan were startled when Dasun Shanaka-led Sri Lanka put forth an outstanding effort to knock them from the Asia Cup 2023. With their relegation from the Asia Cup, Pakistan’s emphasis will shift to the forthcoming ODI World Cup 2023 in India, which is set to begin on October 5.

The World Cup approaching, the team will face a number of challenges
One of them is the squad’s injury worry. Haris Rauf, Pakistan’s star pacer, had been suffering with a side injury and did not play in the latter rounds of the Asia Cup. In addition, Naseem Shah’s shoulder ailment could be a source of concern for Pakistan.
Speaking on the subject, Pakistan captain Babar Azam took the center stage and discussed the team’s injury predicament. Speaking on Haris Rauf, Babar believes he will heal in time for the World Cup and that his injury is minor. Naseem Shah, on the other hand, may miss the tournament’s early stages.
“I’ll tell you later; I’m not going to tell you our Plan B right now.” However, Haris Rauf is not without merit. He only has a minor side strain, but he’ll be OK for the World Cup. Naseem Shah, too… they’ve had a couple of missed matches, and I’m not sure how long the recuperation will take, but Naseem Shah, in my opinion, will be in the World Cup later on. But let’s see. ” Babar Azam cited by ESPNcricinfo as saying.
The injuries to Pakistan’s premier pacers could prove expensive during the World Cup. It is worth noting that Naseem is now getting scans in Dubai. The PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) has yet to provide an update on Naseem’s injury status or potential return. Pakistan’s squad will travel home via Dubai on Friday, September 15, and it would be intriguing to see if Naseem Shah and Haris Raauf will be available for the World Cup’s early stages.
