Amitabh Choudhary, a former administrator and secretary of the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India), died in August 2022. The late official made a significant contribution to the growth of the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA).

Following his death, the JSCA decided to erect a gold statue in his honor to preserve his memory. However, the late administrator’s family is apparently dissatisfied. The JSCA’s decision to erect a gold or marble statue in his honor.

The first anniversary of Choudhary’s death will be on Wednesday, August 16. The JSCA planning the statue, the Times of India stated that Amitabh Choudhary’s son. Abhishek, has sent a legal notice to the JSCA to prohibit the installation of the gold statue. According to reports, the late administrator’s family believed that paying homage in this manner would be an insult to every sacrifice made by his father.

“My family and I were distress to learn through media reports. The current management of JSCA intends to install a gold or marble statue of my father. Plans to announce the decision or lay the foundation on his first death anniversary. ” Abhishek quoted by News 18 as saying.

“My father would not have agree to be idolize in this way. Which honors the figure and persona but contradicts his body of work and deeper values. ” He led a simple existence his entire life. Personal adoration and ostentation were forbidden to him. “Spending crores of rupees to erect such a statue would be a mockery of the ideals for which he made enormous sacrifices,” he continued.

Planned Gold statue to cost around One Crore

The JSCA also planned to construct a 10- to 12-foot statue, which might have cost INR 1 crore, according to the article. The gold-framed portrait will also cost roughly INR 50 lakh. Abhishek also upset that the decision to build the statue made without the family’s approval.

“Furthermore, taking such a decision without notifying his family, let alone obtaining their consent, constitutes an impediment to the family’s expression of private grief on such a solemn occasion,” Abhishek added.
