The Australians released a preliminary roster ahead of the ODI World Cup. One of the omissions that drew a lot of attention was batter Labuschagne’s. According to Bailey, the batter has struggled to be consistent in the One-Day format. He did, however, add that Labuschagne is expect to play a few matches for Australia A before focusing on white-ball cricket.

“We know Labuschagne consistently hold down a spot in the one-day team at his best. We just haven’t seen him do it consistently in the role that we’d like him to do. ” “We’ve been very clear with Marnus. He’ll be playing in some Australia A games at the same time so he can focus on white-ball cricket. ” Bailey told reporters.

Prior to the World Cup, Australia will play South Africa in a multi-format series that will include five ODIs

Serving as a dress rehearsal for the major event in India. With this, Bailey state that the South Africa series squad will have an advantage over the rest in terms of making the World Cup roster.

“Clearly, the squad that is going to South Africa is in the lead for that. ” But, given his age and skill set, we have little doubt that Marnus will play a role in one-day cricket in the future. ” I can’t tell you when that will be, but we know at his best, he can play a really important role. ” Bailey continue.
