Dilip Jajodia, proprietor of the Dukes ball, comments on the Ashes ball-change dispute. Ashes 2023 finished 2-2.

The umpires were compelled to alter the ball in the fifth and final Ashes Test at The Oval after it impacted Usman Khawaja’s helmet and changed its shape. However, instead of selecting an ancient ball, the umpires chose a relatively new ball, which sparked much debate. Khawaja argued about this, but the umpire pointed out that there were no more balls in the box. The visiting team was eventually disappointed, and they went on to lose the match by 49 runs.

The discussion about the ball did not end there, as Khawaja later urged the ICC to intervene and judge the matter. Dukes ball owner Dilip Jajodia, on the other hand, stated that there is no conspiracy and thus no cause for an investigation. He also stated that the ball was not as old as claimed, and hence the discussions must come to an end.

“Well, I didn’t say I wanted to conduct an investigation. Okay? Misquoted!. Everyone appears to want to conduct (an) investigation. “I’m not sure what the point is of conducting an investigation,” Jajodia told Cricbuzz on Sunday.

“It is completely false. There is no proof that a 2019 ball was present. I mean, I’m not sure who says this, and no one checks. It’s not to have a ball that dates back four or five years in the spare box, ball box. That’s all there is to it. “There is no such thing as a conspiracy,” he added.

People are constantly looking for reasons to generate drama: Jajodia

Jajodia went on to say that Australia was trying to find an excuse for losing the contest. He reiterated that there was nothing amiss with the ball and that no investigation required.

“That’s what cricket is all about.” And it amazes me that people are always looking for reasons to stage a drama. The Australians were defeated in the end. That’s what they’re claiming. The ball had to be replace when it collided with Usman Khawaja’s helmet. The ball is in perfect condition. So that’s the end of the story. “There is no investigation, nothing,” Jajodia remarked.
