The IPL 2023 final ended in a thrilling last-over thriller between CSK and Gujarat Titans (GT) at Narendra Modi Stadium. With their fifth victory, the MS Dhoni-led side now shares the record of the competition’s most successful team over the past 16 seasons with the Mumbai Indians.
Following this victory, it has been report that Dhoni will be subject to a battery of tests to determine the extent of his knee ailment. Throughout the IPL, there were numerous reports of the 41-year-old playing with a knee ailment. In reality, CSK head coach Stephen Fleming acknowledged during one of his press conferences that the CSK captain suffering from a knee injury.

Dhoni’s retirement one of the season’s key talking themes throughout the IPL 2023, given where he stands in his cricketing career. In the post-match interview following the final, Harsha Bhogle inquire about Dhoni’s return to IPL 2024, to which Dhoni replied that it all depends on his body and fitness level at the time.
“Are you looking for an answer? Circumstantial evidence suggests that now is the greatest time for me to announce my retirement. But the amount of love and affection I’ve received this year, wherever I’ve gone…The easy thing for me to say would be ‘Thank you very much. ‘ But the difficult thing would be to work hard for nine months and return to play at least one more season of IPL. “However, a lot is dependent on the body,” MS noted.
