The first England Test team to visit Pakistan in 17 years arrives. The first time England has played three Test matches in the nation since 2005.
For its first Test series in 17 years, England’s red-ball squad, captained by the unpredictable Ben Stokes, has traveled to Pakistan. Due to the unstable security situation, the Three Lions made their first trip to the subcontinent since 2005 when they played a three-match Test series.
The visitors recently participated in an incredible T20I series in Pakistan prior to the T20 World Cup. England won the series 4-3 in the last match played at the Gaddafi Stadium. It had been a hotly contest series. However, there were worries that the English side may call off the Test series, as they have done in the past, following an assault on former prime minister Imran Khan at a protest march in Wazirabad earlier this month.
Any concerns were allayed by England’s red-ball captain, Ben Stokes, who is certain that the team’s safety will be taken care of for the upcoming series against the unsuccessful T20 World Cup champions.
“It’s been a long time since England have played Test cricket in Pakistan. With what happened with Imran Khan recently, there was a little bit of concern, but we have Reg Dickason, who has been the security man for many years with England, and we left it in his capable hands,”

The English T20I team that participated in the seven-match series there a few months ago did not include Stokes. The flashy all-rounder is excited for the Test series because it would be his first time playing on these soils. He is also interested on seeing how the team will be secured.
“In terms of the tour itself, I’m really looking forward to it. I’ve never been there, and I’m quite interested to see what the security lark is like. I’ve heard it’s pretty intense,”
He added.
