Iftikhar Ahmed and Shadab Khan led Pakistan to a big score against South Africa in their Super 12 Group 2 match at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Thursday. The Babar Azam-led team was struggling at 95/5 in 13.0 overs after deciding to bat first. Later, Iftikhar and Shadab hit half centuries to help the side achieve a score of 185/9 after 20.0 overs. Apart from stitching a superb 85-run combination with Shadab, Iftikhar utterly surprised everyone by hitting the tournament’s biggest six.
Iftikhar, who was batting at 33, smashed a 106-metre six off Proteas bowler Lungi Ngidi in the 16th over. The Pakistan hitter hit a deep square leg shot that flew straight into the spectators. Shadab also praise his buddy for the big six, which had the spectators spellbound.

Things proceeded from bad to worse for Ngidi, who ended up conceding 15 runs in that over, giving Pakistan the upper hand in the game.
In the match, Pakistan lost three wickets in fast succession, with Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Mohammad Haris all out within six overs. South Africa then dismiss Shan Masood and Mohammad Nawaz before Iftikhar and Shadab steadied the innings.
Iftikhar score 51 runs off 35 balls, while Shadab scored 52 runs off 22 balls to help Pakistan post a total of 185/9. Anrich Nortje was the standout bowler for South Africa, taking four wickets. In addition, Wayne Parnell, Lungi Ngidi, Kagiso Rabada, and Tabraiz Shamsi each took one wicket.
