Cricket Scotland’s board of directors resigns amid a racism controversy. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has not responded to the ongoing investigation.
The Scotland Cricket Board has resigned in response to racism allegations made by cricketers Majid Haq and Qasim Sheikh. Cricket Scotland was found to be “institutionally racist” in an independent review. The review report is schedule to be release on July 25. But the board resign a day early, apologizing to anyone who has been subject to racist abuse.
Cricket Scotland’s board of directors resigned, writing. ” When the review into racism in Scottish cricket announce last year, we were fully supportive of the review. ” The review has received unprecedented levels of engagement, and we believe it will be truly transformative. Not only for Cricket Scotland and the sport of cricket, but also for Scottish sport and society in general. The Board has pledged to fully implement the review’s findings in order to make cricket in Scotland a truly welcoming and inclusive environment for all. We are all deeply sorry and have publicly apologized to everyone who has faced racism or other forms of discrimination in Scottish cricket.
“Since the beginning of the year. The Board has also taken significant initial steps to improve the governance and leadership of Cricket Scotland. ” Without a doubt, this is the beginning of another long journey to overhaul and modernize the sport’s governance in order to ensure its continued success in the years ahead.

Essex at the centre of racism row
