India defeated West Indies by three runs in the first One-Day International (ODI) on Friday at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad. Following the game, West Indies legend and one of the greatest batters of all time, Brian Lara, met with India head coach Rahul Dravid. Lara, who is from Trinidad, was among several former West Indies players present at the stadium for the first ODI. During the 1990s and 2000s, Lara and Dravid were teammates on several occasions.

The BCCI posted a photo of Lara and Dravid standing next to each other on Twitter.
“Two Legends, One Frame,” the photo’s caption read.
India has taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match series after defeating the West Indies by three runs.
After being put into bat, India’s captain Shikhar Dhawan and Shubman Gill got off to a flying start, putting on 119 runs for the first wicket.
Dhawan was out for 97, while Gill hit a brilliant 64 on his return to the ODI team.
Shreyas Iyer also performed admirably with the bat, scoring 54 runs off 57 balls.
Deepak Hooda and Axar Patel also made cameo appearances of 27 and 21, respectively, as India finished on 308 for seven in 50 overs.
In response, West Indies fell three runs short as Mohammed Siraj’s excellent final over gave India a 1-0 series lead.
The West Indies had a poor start to the chase, losing Shai Hope early on.
Kyle Mayers and Shamarh Brooks, on the other hand, steadied the ship, adding 117 runs for the second wicket.
Mayers scored 74 points, while Brooks had 46. Shardul Thakur fired both of them in quick succession.
Brandon King also reached fifty, keeping West Indies in the hunt. However, Yuvzvendra Chahal made a timely breakthrough to make the hosts’ job more difficult.
Although Akeal Hosein and Romario Shepherd had unbeaten cameos of 32 and 39 minutes, respectively, Siraj kept his cool in the final game to lead India to victory.
