“Why would you question that?” says Jos Buttler in support of Virat Kohli. England white-ball captain Jos Buttler defended Virat Kohli. Saying his record speaks for itself and he doesn’t understand why anyone would question it.
The speculation about Virat Kohli’s fitness is growing by the minute. The right-handed batter failed to make an impact in the second One-Day International against England, scoring only 16 runs. He went chasing a delivery that was outside the off-stump. As a result, he bowled by pacer David Willey. England captain Jos Buttler, on the other hand, has now come out in support of Kohli. Saying that the former India captain has scored so many runs that he doesn’t understand why anyone would question that.

Jos Buttler in support of Virat Kohli.
“I suppose it’s a little refreshing for the rest of us that he (Kohli) is human and can have a couple of low scores, but look, he’s been one of the best, if not the best, ODI player in the world. So, he’s been a fantastic player for many years, and all batters, it just goes to show, go through slumps where they don’t perform as well as they can “During a press conference, Buttler stated.
“But, as an opposing captain, you know a player of that caliber is always due, so you hope it doesn’t come against us. As I previously stated, his track record speaks for itself. The matches he’s won for India, and why would you doubt that? “He continued.
Kohli’s last international century came in 2019, and the three-figure mark has eluded him since. The batter had struggled to get started in both the Edgbaston Test and the T20Is against England.
Kohli will not play in India’s upcoming ODI and T20I series against the West Indies, which begins on July 22.
In the second One-Day International (ODI) between India and England, the former was unable to chase 247 and was bowled out for 146, losing the match by 100 runs. For the hosts, Reece Topley took six wickets.
