Deepak Hooda is expected to play in Ireland’s T20Is, according to Sanjay Manjrekar. Deepak Hooda was a standout performer in IPL 2022.
India will travel to Ireland for a two-match T20I series beginning on Sunday, June 26th. The Indian team will be missing some of its regulars. So they will look to give some of the fringe players opportunities. Deepak Hooda is expected to play for the Men in Blue in the upcoming series. Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has backed the all-rounder to perform well for his country.
Hooda had a fantastic season in IPL 2022 and was a major driving force behind his Lucknow Super Giants’ run to the playoffs this year. As skipper KL Rahul dropped anchor in the middle overs, the middle-order batter was frequently the aggressor. The right-handed batter finished the season with 451 runs and four half-centuries to his name.
The all-rounder is also adept with the ball and can contribute crucial wickets. Meanwhile, Manjrekar believes that Hooda’s return to the national team after missing the series against South Africa is ideal. Manjrekar stated that the batter has matured significantly and demonstrated his abilities in the IPL 2022.

“I expect him to get a chance in this (Ireland) series because I believe we saw the best of Deepak Hooda in the previous IPL.” He’s been around for a long time, and you’ve only seen sporadic demonstrations of his work and ability. “He came of age in the last IPL,” he said on a Sony Sports show.
In the previous series against South Africa, India struggled for runs from the middle order, with both Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant underwhelming. The addition of the Lucknow Super Giants batsman to India’s middle-order batting can relieve pressure on Hardik Pandya and Dinesh Karthik, who did the majority of the scoring in the game’s final stages.
“India requires someone like him further down the line.” It’s a difficult job, and Hooda did an excellent job in the IPL. “He is someone who, I am sure, India will look at,” Manjrekar added.
