Harshal Patel of RCB “His Mentality While Bowling Death Overs In Eliminator Against LSG. ” The win moved them one step closer to the summit clash at Ahmedabad on Sunday. The RCB will face Rajasthan Royals in the second Qualifier on Friday.
Harshal Patel of Royal Challengers Bangalore admits to feeling nervous while bowling in the death overs. But he says he wants to be in those high-pressure situations game after game. The 31-year-old, who represents Haryana on the domestic circuit, has been the most improved bowler in recent years, using his variations to outwit batters in the death overs.
In the IPL Eliminator against LSG, Harshal cemented his reputation as a ‘death overs specialist.’
“I don’t know whether I’ll be able to deliver or not; I can’t say. But there is no doubt that I want to be in those situations “Harshal stated this after leading the team to a 14-run victory over the Lucknow Super Giants on Wednesday.
The victory moved them one step closer to the summit clash at Ahmedabad on Sunday.
RCB will face RR in the second Qualifier on Friday.
“I’ve been wanting to do that for the past two-three years, I’ve been doing it for Haryana. I wanted to do it at a bigger stage, and I will continue to put myself in those situations. Sometimes it will come off, sometimes it won’t.”
“There will be games where I end up losing for the team. That’s okay as long as I don’t shy away from challenges,” said Harshal, who will lead the bowling challenge alongside Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the upcoming T20I series against South Africa next month.
Harshal bowled a tidy spell of 2-0-8-0 in the middle overs on Wednesday while defending 208 against Lucknow Super Giants.
However, with KL Rahul and the hard-hitting Marcus Stoinis looking to break free at the end, the seamer was called in to bowl the 18th over with 41 runs to defend.
“To begin with, there is no doubt that I was nervous. You’re going to be nervous if you’re defending 35 points off 18 balls.
“When I gave up six runs without bowling a ball — when I gave up those wides — I knew the wide yorker wasn’t going to work.
“So I thought I’d go back to what worked for me in the first two overs to give myself the best chance of getting KL (Rahul) and Stoinis out. Fortunately, I was able to get Stoinis out at the boundary “He stated.

Harshal Patel, had 21 wickets for RCB last season,
Patel has been being bowling backbone once again this season, with 19 wickets from 15 matches.
“I knew the majority of my deliveries would be slower balls on this type of wicket because once you gave pace, the wicket made it easy to hit,” Harshal explained.
He stated that he received that signal when LSG bowled at them in the first innings.
“Whenever they bowled short or slower balls, they weren’t coming nicely on to the bat, so that was a clue that I wanted to bowl short and into the pitch as slow as I could and then mix it up with a good yorker, good hard length ball.”
