The veteran batter for the Chennai Super Kings tweeted at 12:46pm but deleted it almost an hour later. It sparked widespread speculation about whether the current season was Rayudu’s “last IPL,” as he claimed in a now-deleted tweet. “Not Retiring,” says CSK CEO after Ambati Rayudu deletes his “This Will Be My Last IPL” tweet.
“I am pleased to announce that this will be my final IPL.” “I’ve had a great time playing it and being a part of two great teams for 13 years,” Rayudu tweeted. “I’d like to thank the Mumbai Indians and CSK for a wonderful journey.”
Later, he deleted the tweet. Rayudu is “not retiring,” according to Chennai Super Kings CEO Kasi Viswanathan.
“He was a little disappointed with his performance. So he sent out that tweet by mistake. I’ve explained everything to him. He is not going away “Vishwanathan told NDTV via phone. “He’ll be there.”
Rayudu was purchased for INR 6.75 crore CSK in the IPL 2022 auction but has struggled to find consistency this season.
Rayudu is CSK’s third-highest run-scorer this season, trailing only Ruturaj Gaikwad (313 runs) and Shivam Dube (289 runs).
CSK are already out of contention for the playoffs following their loss to the Mumbai Indians in their previous match. CSK has won only four of its 12 matches so far, placing them ninth in the 10-team league.
